About HiRib™ 680
Manufactured from High-Tensile steel, Fielders HiRib™ 680 boasts a bold, deep troughed profile. Able to be fixed down to a 1 degree pitch, achieving multiple spans of up to 3.4 meters, the uses for HiRib™ 680 are numerous. Domestic applications such as carport and veranda roofing to commercial and industrial roofing and walling projects, HiRib™ 680 has you covered. The strong profile of HiRib™ 680 roofing combined with a lighter gauge high-tensile steel provides optimum strength, allowing for larger spans at a minimum cost, plus making walking between ribs safer for maintenance purposes. HiRib™ 680 has fewer fasteners which means less installation time making this a very practical and highly affordable product and perfect budget solution.
Available in an extensive range of colours and finishes in COLORBOND® steel and ZINCALUME®, HiRib™ 680 is sure to blend seamlessly or contrast brilliantly with the surrounding environment.

Allowable Spans
The allowable roof spans for the HiRib™ 680 roofing profile in Regions C and D are shown in Table HR RS CY 001 and Table HR RS CY 002.
The allowable spans have been determined from tests carried out in accordance with AS4040.0-1992, AS 1170.2-2011 and the NCC (BCA) 2016 Specification B1.2 for the design of buildings in cyclonic areas.
Fixing of Cladding
Fasteners must be selected to match the life expectancy of the cladding material. Recommendations from fastener manufacturers should be sought. Only fasteners complying with AS 3566:2002 and those that are compatible with the roofing material should be used for its fastening.
All fasteners used externally should be fitted with an EPDM seal. Do not use punches to form fastener holes. Fasteners are to be fixed at each crest of the HiRib™ 680 roof sheeting.
For further information on the HiRib™ 680 roofing profile, including installation procedures, refer to Specifying Fielders® – Roofing & Walling manual.
Notes:
1. All fasteners used externally should be fitted with an EPDM seal (washer).
2. Do not use punches to form fastener holes.
3. HiRib™ 680 Cyclonic uses 14g-10x75mm Hex Head Screws with a cyclonic plate seal.
Side Lap Fastening
It may be necessary to use side lap fasteners to maintain a weatherproof side lap. One or more fasteners are recommended when using HiRib™ 680 at maximum spans, for walling cladding. Lap fasteners are also required alongside each valley fastener.
HiRib™ 680 Installation Procedure
For installation procedures see section “Typical Pierce Fix Installation Guide”. For general handling instructions refer to section “Maintenance and Care”.
Turning of Roof Sheeting Ends
Refer to section “Flashings, Cappings & Ends of Sheets”.
Insulation
Care needs to be taken when installing insulation with roof sheeting. When insulation thickness up to 50mm are installed the screws detailed in Table HR PF CY 001 may need to be increased depending on the thickness and density of the insulation. When the screw is properly tightened into metal there should be a minimum of three (3) threads protruding past the support being fixed in to. For timber the screw must penetrate the timber as much as the screws detailed in Table HR PF CY 001 do without insulation.
For insulation thicknesses greater than 50mm Fielders® recommend the use of a thermal spacer to help maintain Rw values as well as minimising any bulging in the profile caused by the insulation.
Maximum Sheet Length
See section “Thermal Expansion and Contraction of Steel Sheeting”.
