The Project

Webber Architects was approached by the Catholic Schools Office, with a clear brief for the development of a new hall at St James Primary School, Muswellbrook.

The underlying principle of the project was to provide maximum amenity and environmental sensitivity, whilst maintaining a minimalist ‘local context’ approach. The design and structural properties of the project allowed for very large spans that allowed for a reduction in steel framing.

The Process

St James Primary School, Muswellbrook was completed in late 2011.

Using Aramax® roofing sheets, finished in ZINCALUME® steel, delivered a stunning finish in keeping with the original brief with the hall offering users a quality space that is inspired, practical and can be used comfortably in all conditions.

The Solution

Aramax® delivered a functional, long spanning steel solution mitred with the vertical wall facade to create a visually striking profile. The long spans allow the buildings steel frame to be uncomplicated, significantly reducing cost and complexity in detailing and construction.
