The Project

Located in regional South Australia, the Port Augusta Central Oval Community Sporting Hub underwent a $16 million redevelopment beginning in late 2013 and was designed to provide the community with a modern centralised sporting and event location.

The completed sporting facility is a state of the art two-storey multipurpose stadium, incorporating a full sized AFL football oval, three indoor basketball courts, outdoors netball courts, change rooms, a corporate function centre and upstairs viewing platform for guests to enjoy.

Fielders were commissioned by Badge Constructions to supply 875m2 of ARAMAX® roof sheeting as the roofing solution for the project which was completed in late 2014.

The Process

The ARAMAX® roofing solution was supplied by Fielders during the 2014 construction phase of the sporting hub project. The material was rolled at the Fielders Mile End Mill in Adelaide, before being loaded and transported to the project site in Port Augusta. Upon arrival Fielders worked with contractor McMahon Services to install the building’s feature roofing profile.

The Solution

Fielders ARAMAX® was chosen by Studio Nine Architects, to provide a bold and contemporary look in line with the developer’s vision for the project. The Aramax® profile worked perfectly for the project, as it allows for large roofing spans of up to 20 meters with no purlins or girts, producing a modern and strong finish to fit the building’s purpose and function.
